A fallen oak surrounded by youthful, pure-white trees

Taken in Baxter’s Hollow, North Freedom, WI on the same day as To Choose, almost directly before my tripod gave way. Unlike the clearing mentioned in To Choose and the healthy oak it contained, this clearing was well on its way towards filling to capacity. This oak was still there 1.5 years later, as mighty and majestic as it was when I came across this scene, and I hope it continues to stay. The sunlight upon the youthful trees and their stillness over the fallen sovereign created a deeply reverent space. I stood in awe with them on this day, and hope to do so again for as long as their kind ruler can be visited.
