Crossing footprints leading to a frozen river shore.

Two pairs of footprints leading to the Wisconsin River, found at the Mazomanie Oak Barrens State Natural Area of Mazomanie, WI, USA.

This scene was found on my second outing to the location – the first having been cut short by my primary Mamiya RB lens beginning to slip its timings. I was eager to return to this snowy boat launch, but found so much more possibility in the two crossing tracks that had appeared while I was away. It was a delight to imagine the two hikers coming together from a distance and moving closer together as they met the river. Likewise, it was bittersweet to envision their encounter and departure, each step bringing them further apart.
